Advanced Treatments to Get the Relief You’ve Always Wanted

Forma-I uses radiofrequency energy to deliver targeted heat to your eyes that feels like a hot stone massage. The heat from the handpiece is massaged on both the upper and lower eyelids to melt away the clogged meibomian glands. The pressure from the applicator further allows the oils to be expressed.

This will help you improve the quality and volume of your tear film.  Not only will you notice an improvement in your dry eyes symptoms, Forma-I has aesthetic benefits in reducing wrinkles, and fine lines too!

This treatment is ideal for those looking for immediate results as it can be performed as a stand-alone treatment or can be paired with Lumecca IPL to further combat dry eye symptoms.

What makes Forma-I more effective than traditional heat therapy?

Traditional heat therapy reaches the glands but on a much more superficial level. In contrast, Forma penetrates much deeper, allowing the secretions and clogged oils to break up. This process softens the thickened oils deep in your glands and allows the doctor to express them to restore your glands’ natural function. Forma-I has aesthetic benefits in reducing wrinkles, and fine lines.

Lumecca IPL (intense pulse light) is a comfortable light treatment for dry eye, blepharitis, and ocular rosacea. It can also kill bacteria and Demodex (eyelash mites) on the surface of the eyelids.

This treatment works by stimulating the facial tissue through controlled light pulses that target blood vessels and pigmented lesions. This results in a significant reduction of inflammatory levels along the meibomian glands. The Lumecca IPL light energy, wavelengths, pulse rate and duration can be adjusted to meet each patient’s severity of dry eye.

Dermatologists also use IPL for photofacials to improve skin complexion and other skin conditions such as age spots, sunspots, redness, acne and more.

What are dry eyes?

A woman with brown hair, wearing a grey shirt, closes her eyes and presses her fingers against her eyelids, appearing to experience discomfort or a headache.

Many people experience dry eye symptoms when there is insufficient tear production. Tears are a combination layer of water, oils, and mucus that coats the surface of the eye. Our tears lubricate the eye to help our eyes stay healthy and comfortable.

When the tear film on the eye surface evaporates too quickly, or when it is not working properly,  it causes our eyes to be exposed to the air, and  dry eye symptoms and inflammation may occur.

Many patients with dry eye symptoms have Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD). The Meibomian glands in the eyelids are responsible for producing a protective oily layer of tear film.

When these glands become blocked or fail to produce the oils needed for healthy tears, and if left untreated, the eye becomes very dry leading to irritation, discomfort, and eventually, gland dropout.
